I’m a social documentary photographer based in Australia. I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico and have been in Australia since 2008. I spend my time between Sydney and Northern NSW and I’m available for assignments, projects, weddings and events around Australia and abroad.
As a Social Documentary Photographer, I love capturing timeless images that reflect diversity and humanity keeping the historical context in mind. I dive into Projects with a photo essay/Reportage mindset. This means that I shoot a series of images that together tell a story. My projects can be constructed in this style weather it is on a particular event like a wedding, a one day in life, or exploring cultural identity trough the coverage of particular events through a period of years.
Although photographically I take my inspiration from Photojournalists such as Josef Koudelka, Hiroji Kubota, Dorothea Lang, Robert Capa and many many others, it all started with one special man, my Granfather.
My Grandfather was an amateur photographer based in Baja California, Mexico. His Hobby documented the history of our family from the 50’s onward and left an invaluable record not only of the family but of Baja California itself. I like to think of his photographs as a Photo-essay about our family.
With Garandad as an inspiration I cannot help but feeling him close to me every time I get my hands on a camera and I only hope to leave behind me a record that my family and my contemporaries will one day look back onto with the same feelings of love and nostalgia that Grandads photographs have left in my family having the same effect generation after generation.
I now spend my time between Sydney and Northern NSW. I’ve spent the last decade of my life working In Film and TV where I’ve focused on Audio as an on location Sound Recordist.
